Well, here is the short version of Barumba. We were there to test water, just like when we were in Ntara. There used to be a lovely SP base in Barumba. We stayed there even though it was now just a "Hotel" and by hotel i mean bar. The bar got power from a generator. They put the generator 10 feet from our door. So, we worked alot, and slept a little. The good part was the kids. As you can see below, we actually did have a great time.
So, what are these kids staring at?
Sarah doing her testing of course.
Sometimes you dont need to be testing to get stared at. One kid had almost no English, but when he saw all of Sarahs testing equipment he looked at me and said Telecom??
This is our buddy Moses. I made him one of those vortex bottle things.
It made him pretty happy for at least 4 hours. Not bad...
This is a new friend of mine, named Mary. About a year ago she had really bad malaria. Her dad said that it was either the fever or to much medicine, but now she is blind.
But, she was so so so so sweet and my favorite kid i have met in a long time.
I thought, i should let her feel my arm hair, that way she will remember me, even if i dont come back for 4 years.
Well, when we got back we still had our chicken. Sarah took it for a walk.
Later that night i noticed the tap didnt turn very well. i thought i would open and close it all the way to try and fix it. I added a little muscle into the equation as well. Then the nob fell off with the water still flowing.
Problem solved. Thanks for bringing electrical tape Dave.
Bonus pic. Dont these guys look cuddly and soft, and thirsty??
eww... bats!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pictures ... made me teary. It was so wonderful to see Moses' smiling face. Thanks for going back and showing him some love.
