So, life has been non stop, but it is slowing down a little bit. We drove up to northern Uganda to an area where the people are called the Karamajong. They are great. My job was to teach them how to make soap in 2 days. Well, it is a lot harder to make soap the “real way” with ash and beef fat than the way I did it before. We did our best and I'm not sure if the “stuff” we made will turn to soap, but at least it was a lot of fun. By far, the funniest thing about this all was how I was all safety safety about the Lye. The quote of the day was “we do not fear, we eat”. If they want to cook their vegetables faster, they add a little “soda ash” aka lye, and bingo, it’s done. Or if they have a cold, sip a little watered down lye and you are back up and running in no time. All in all it was an amazing experience and we are looking forward to getting settled in Western Uganda. First we have 2 weeks in Kenya and then we are gonna go full steam with the water testing.
The soap we made the night before made the ladies rather interested
The people at soap 101 were very attentive. Some of the ladies even took notes. For a rural village there was a lot of literacy.
My "get lye from ashes" contraption. Very sophisticated.
Madonna was thinking about taking this baby until it pee'd on her
Everyone wanted to see the soap get mixed.
Not bad

Awesome pics, Stu. Hope you guys are able to get your bag from Egypt Air at some point! Keep up with the updates :)
